About the project
This project originated from a public contest to rebrand gnration—a cultural space in Braga dedicated to the intersection of art, technology, and experimentation. I was invited by two colleagues to collaborate in evolving their proposed identity into a series of poster designs and social media assets.
The challenge was to translate the modular and dynamic nature of the new logo into a cohesive visual system that could live across physical and digital platforms, while capturing the spirit of reinvention that defines gnration.

Core Elements of the Identity
The visual system was rooted in a modular, geometric cell that shaped both the logo and the overall identity. A dual typographic approach brought contrast—highlighting the “gnr” prefix in a digital, bitmap style while keeping the rest of the word more fluid and humanistic. A complementary color palette was introduced, assigning a distinct hue to each area of gnration’s programming, from music and cinema to education and exhibitions.
Designing with Rhythm and Scalability
To guide the layout design across posters and social media, we developed a modular grid derived from the same core cell as the logo. This grid acted as a compositional tool, enabling us to build rhythm and hierarchy while maintaining flexibility. It allowed for clear alignment of typographic elements, structured use of color and icons, and purposeful disruption, mirroring the layered and ever-evolving nature of gnration’s programming.
Adapting Across Platforms
Based on this structure, we created physical posters for both the monthly program and individual events, ensuring clarity and cohesion across formats. These were then adapted for the digital space, including covers and posts for all of gnration’s main social media channels. To elevate the experience online, we experimented with animation and video, introducing motion to selected assets and giving the identity a dynamic, layered feel that resonated with gnration’s experimental ethos.
The Value
Although the proposal was not selected in the final stage of the public contest, the project showcased the strength of a collaborative and fast-paced creative process. Developed in a short timeframe, the poster and digital assets effectively translated the modular identity into bold, real-world applications—capturing the experimental spirit of gnration and offering a compelling vision for its future visual communication.
